Red Velvet Cupcakes

I baked red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing last Saturday and this is how they look. They tasted delicious but I still need some improvement on the icing and a serious adjustment on the recipe of the icing.

The cup is way to big. The only type of cup I have at home so don't waste it.

1-Day Trip To KL

It's been a week since my update and it was a busy week for me; totally exhausting but fun. Had my haircut on Wednesday and on Thursday, my sis, her bf and I went to KL for a day. Imagine leaving at about 8am and coming home at almost 11pm on the same day. I almost died a few times on that day due to exhaustion but overall it was super fun! It's been a few years since I went to KL and I was quite surprised to see all the obvious changes there. And you know what? I took ALL the public transportations in KL in 1 day, not a single one missed! I went to KL actually to help my sis and her bf pack their stuff from their apartment but before all the hard work began we went to Midvalley and tried so many mouth-watering food. =) Filled the belly first before the conscription. Hehe.. My sis and her bf took the opportunity to celebrate my success in entering university there. I was truly touched! *sob sob* Here are the pictures from our 1-day trip...

Joke Of The Day

At home, I wanted to see if I had chosen the correct mosquito repellent from Guardian and so I tore off the wrapper. While I was doing that, my mum who was using the computer heard the loud ripping sound.

Mum: Ohhhhh.... Adik hungry eh? (she thought I had opened a packet of biscuits or something)
Me: *silence*

I walked straight to my mum while holding the repellent. My mum hates the smell of it but because our house is full of mosquitoes lately and also because the repellent works great, she bought it without second thought.

Me: Mummy, nah... *putting the repellent right at her nostrils*
Mum: (still didn't know it was a mosquito repellent up to this point as she was very busy concentrating on her computer game and honestly I thought she knew what it was) "Don't want lah..." (by the way, that's her usual words whenever my sis and I offer her food but she doesn't mean it most of the time. hehe..>.<) *opening her mouth to bite the repellent and her mouth slightly touched it)
Me: *in total shock!! pulled the repellent away from my mum when I realised she thought it was food and almost bit it!*
By this time, I was laughing my head off.
Mum: *finally realised and wiped her mouth * You very sueh heng eh? Laugh lah..Laugh lah.."
Me: *still laughing hysterically and rolling on the floor*

So, this is what happened yesterday to be precise. This is the story of my life, just perfectly imperfect! I still can't stop laughing when I think about it. *Laughing quietly*

Sabah Here I Come!!!

Today is a great day! I will run around my house like hooligans but i shall wait for the rain to stop first. Finally the day that I've been waiting for for months has arrived and today is a glorious day indeed. I got my university result in the afternoon from my sis. She was the one who was more eager to know about the result than myself so unsurprisingly she was the one who sent the sms first at 12pm sharp! I did send mine after that but the reply I got was that the system was down due to the overflowing sms from all the students eagerly wanting to know what they got.=) The great news is I got the course that I applied for that is networking engineering in UMS (University Malaysia Sabah). Thank God! I was putting quite a high hope in getting chemical engineering but I didn't get that. That was my 1st choice. But it's ok because at least I got one of the courses I wanted. Things happen for a reason right? Hehe..The other course I applied besides chemical and networking was software engineering. I got my 3rd choice in my uni application and I'm so thankful! I know some of you might wonder why I would want to to go to a place so far from home. A place where you can't go by car or bus or even train but by airplane; all the way from Malacca to Sabah. All I can say is that I want to be independent. It's high time for me to step out of my comfort zone and dive head first into a whole new adventure. I want to be a tough and independent girl who doesn't cry and run to my mum when life gets hard. Everyone is very happy for me and for those who were kind and caring enough to ask and wished me good luck, thank u sooooo much! =) I will be leaving end of next month. I'm already starting to miss my family, cats and home so much. I'll not waste my time left in Malacca so now is the time to enjoy!!!

Bread = Disaster

Tomorrow is the day I will know whether I will run like hooligans around my house or I will stab myself with a fork when no one is looking so today, to distract and stop myself from pulling all of my hair out I tried making bread and it turned out........ wait for it....... DISASTROUS!!!! You have no idea how much flour I've wasted. Lol.. And to top it off, the bread is HUGE!!! So the victims who will finish the bread are my mom and sis. Yes, I shall force and threaten them to finish up the whole HUGE loaf! Muahahahaha!!!!!! =P I think I'll be forbidden to make any bread any time soon or even worse, forever! Now, I shall distract myself again by cleaning the whole house. So, tata for now! =)

Ps: This is how I'll look like if I were to sit down and do nothing except think about tomorrow.

2 Days More. Fingers Crossed

2 days more and my question will be answered. No more guessing, no more waiting, no more being clueless and lost. I just pray to God and all my guardian angels that I will get one of the courses that I applied for. I don't mind the place I'll be going but I prefer NOT to go to Johor. Oh God, please not Johor. I don't mind going to Sabah or KL, just not Johor. Most importantly, I just hope that I will get the course that I want. *Fingers crossed* Pray for me too ok? =) Sadhu,sadhu,sadhu...

Totally Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

I baked again my totally chocolate chocolate chip cookies today so I thought why not share this great recipe with you guys. Great things will be greater if we share them together (doesn't apply on humans especially spouses) =)

Ingredients:
  • 125g dark chocolate ( >70% cocoa)
  • 150g flour
  • 30g cocoa powder, sieved
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 75g light brown sugar
  • 50g white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, cold from fridge
  • 1/2 packet of semisweetened or dark chocolate chips
  • Nuts or raisins according to your preferences. (Up to individuals)
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 170 degree celcius. ( I suggest to preheat oven while doing step 5) Melt 125g dark chocolate in a heatproof dish over a pot of simmering water.
  2. Put flour, cocoa powder, soda bicarbonate and salt into a big bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars in another bowl. Use a mixer to cream butter and sugars but if you do not own a mixer like me, then just use a whip. Whip the butter and sugars until the mixture turns creamy and light. Then, add in the melted chocolate and mix together.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and cold egg and mix in the dry ingredients. Finally stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop out equal-sized mounds using an ice-cream scooper and a palette ( you will get 12 mounds). However if you use a tablespoon you will get 20 mounds and if teaspoon then it would be 44 mounds) The tool you use is according to your preferences. If you like your cookies big then use an ice-cream scooper or a tablespoon. Place them on a baking sheet about 6cm apart. DON'T flatten them.
  6. Bake for 18 minutes (for the 12 mounds or 20 mounds) or bake for 10 minutes (for the 44 mounds) Test with a cake tester to make sure they come out semi-clean and not wet with cake batter.
  7. Leave to cool slightly on the baking sheet for 4-5 minutes. Then transfer them to a cooling rack to harden as they cool.

If you like them small then use a teaspoon.
The bigger version cookies with raisins.

If you love chocolate then this is a MUST-TRY recipe! Enjoy! =)

Biscuits For Mummy

A surprise for my mom when she came back from work. Pastry baked with love. Hehe..;-)
Here are the biscuits I baked yesterday (2days ago to be precise since it's already past midnight). Just spread any topping you like on them and you're good to go. =)
For my topping, they were tuna & salmon spread, and mashed egg with mayonnaise and thyme. It would be much more presentable to use a piping bag for the topping but I'm just a beginner so I don't have all those things for baking. I only have the must-have things for baking. =)

Life And Death Of A Man

"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."- The Crow

Everything is uncertain in life but death is certain. That is the one thing you can't control in life. God give lives and He take them away too. When a human being or living thing is born, it is one of the joyous moment in life. People laugh, smile and shed happy tears but when one dies especially our loved one, even the sunniest day turns pitch black. Everybody wishes to die before their loved ones because they are unwilling to lose and bury someone they deeply love and care but reality is you will never know who dies first or who dies later. You can never tell the exact date, day and time you will leave this world. No one can confidently say that he will be living tomorrow either.

Losing someone is the hardest thing in life. No matter how close or distant a person is with or from you, when they die, the sense of loss is there. All the memories and images of that person will come flooding by the minute you realize that he/she is gone forever. Funny how human beings only appreciate someone or something when they lose them. All the things they said or done suddenly start to matter.

Wise man says don't mourn for the death of your loved ones instead cherish the memories and time you spent with them. Celebrate the lives they lived not contemplate on their departures. No matter how hard it is to practice because talk is cheap, that is the only way to not 'die' with your loved ones. Life still has to go on... However, when a person dies, it doesn't necessarily mean he/she is gone forever. If you never stop loving them and always cherish them in your heart and soul, they will forever live and be with you in your life. So, all I can say is give all your love to those you love and those who love you. Treat them with utmost love and respect and try to spend a little of your time just for the people surrounding you no matter who they are because you will never know when is the last time you will ever meet them again.

Also, live your life meaningfully and to the fullest because one day your life will flash before your eyes so make sure it is worth watching.
''Every man dies- Not every man really lives''- William Ross Wallace

This song is just so sad and it means a lot to me So, if I die young, put me in a beautiful dress, lay me down on a bed of daisies, roses and other beautiful flowers and send me away with the words of a love song. Let my departure be the celebration of the life I've lived and let it be a joyous and memorable one. No wailing and crying please.
Love,
ML

Melody, The Nigella Lawson's Disciple

Last Friday ( 1st of July), I tried my hands in baking. Baked cookies for the very first time all by myself and I was very proud of it! I'm a chocoholic! That means I love anything chocolate- ice-cream, cookies, cakes or just plain chocolate, you name it. So it was no surprise that my first cookies I've ever baked was totally chocolate chocolate chip cookies... All I can say is those cookies were YUMMY!!! They tasted like Famous Amos cookies but mine were not as sweet as theirs (it's a good thing because my family and I dislike sweet stuff). Everything turned out great and it was totally unexpected how well things went even though there was a tiny problem with the uneven heating from the old oven. But overall there is no complain at all. =) Mummy spent a lot of money buying all the ingredients and I felt extremely guilty! Sorry mummy! So, all I could do was to make sure I did not waste mummy's money and to do my very best. No pressure! >.< I can still remember my very 1st attempt in baking a couple of years ago. I baked chocolate cake (as expected) and it turned out dry, sweet and a little burnt. I had to scrape out the burnt parts just to make it edible. Lol..What a let down! And I still remember dividing the cake and giving them to my swimming coaches. Gosh, how embarrassing and foolish! Fortunately this time luck is on my side. Guess I'm getting better in the kitchen. Hehe..=D

Totally Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies! Not for the healthy eaters or diet freaks.

Karma= Newton's Third Law

Bad people always get bad things in return. All the evil or mean things or anything bad that you do to others, will get back to you in return sooner or later. It is just a matter of time... This is what you call Karma. I believe in Karma and I believe that what ever you do in life, good or bad, you will receive the same in return. I believe it is just the same as physics Newton's Third Law: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So now you can see the relationship right?

So, don't mistreat or benefit anyone and don't sacrifice innocent people in the dirty games you play or any of your disgusting conspiracies. God have eyes and ears. You can cheat everybody and anybody but God always know, ALWAYS.

So to those idiots, ( you know who you are ) you will get back everything that you had done to me. I don't wish you bad but let's face it, that is exactly what you will get. To this particular guy who was one of the masterminds behind all those shit, if you ever read my blog and this post well just so you know, I knew what happened to you and all I can say is...... SERVE YOU RIGHT, F*** FACE!!! Hahahaha!!!! I don't laugh at people's misfortunes but you're exceptional. I'm laughing so hard in my heart and I don't feel bad at all. Well, I guess I'm just pure evil. ;-) That's what you get for stamping traumatising memories into my brain. Good luck with the healing! It's good that you get a 4-month break from working because at least you have the time to re energise and come out with a new evil plan and find a new innocent victim. Remember, KARMA!!! KARMA!!! =D
Love,
ML
